About the BTB Group

For over 30 years now we have been supporting major infrastructure projects in Berlin as a family-run civil engineering company and building contractor.

A PARTNER FOR CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERS, BUILDING PLANNERS, ARCHITECTS & CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES

We help to build Berlin

Even before German reunification on 1st September 1990 Reimar Breul founded the first company of the future BTB Group in East Berlin: BTB Bautransporte (BTB construction transport).

Since then, the qualified fitter together with his wife Angela has built up a group of companies that offer all civil engineering services, ranging from earthworks to recycling from one contractor. Demonstrating outstanding entrepreneurial skills, Reimar Breul has always adapted to new challenges and been quick to make the necessary groundbreaking decisions.

On the company’s 25th anniversary in 2015 after graduating as a civil engineer son Philip became the company’s second director. Today he leads the operative side of the BTB Group, while Reimar Breul is in charge of strategic planning and the development of the recycling facility.

Major civil engineering projects in Berlin such as the redesigning of Potsdamer Platz, the construction of the Mall of Berlin, the S-Bahn train line No. 21 or the extending of the A100 motorway are inextricably linked to the BTB Group.

A GROUP OF SPECIALISTS WITH A PASSION FOR CONSTRUCTION

What makes us unique

6 building contractors, 1 group

Over the years we have extended our competencies to all fields of civil engineering. By taking over companies, we were able to increase our performance even further.

A training organization

We know that well-trained specialists do not fall from the sky. Since 2009 we have been a dual training organization for construction equipment operators and truck drivers.

Long-term Partnerships

Big construction contracts often require staying power and partners you can rely on 100%. We nurture a trusting relationship with all of our clients and suppliers.

Solid, fair & on-schedule

Our clients appreciate our reliability, our high quality and our ability to stick to deadlines. We are also in a position to be able to react flexibly to postponements during the course of a project.

Low-cost disposal

The big price driver in construction projects is the disposal of construction rubble and construction waste. Thanks to our centrally located recycling facility, we can offer this service at low cost.

Maintenance team

We have our own workshops and our own team of highly qualified mechanics for the maintenance and repair of our machines and construction equipment.

FROM A ONE-MAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY TO A CORPORATE GROUP

The history of BTB

BTB Bautransporte (BTB construction transport) was founded by Reimar Breul before the reunification of Germany. Before that for some years he and his wife Angela had completed some of their first civil engineering contracts in addition to their main occupations.

The first employee of the company was the vehicle operator Mr Lingies. Nowadays he is a foreman who is valued by all and has been appointed as a first aid / paramedic for BTB.

Among our first major customers were IHB, HOBAUMA and GRUWA. The number of employees increases to 15 in the early years. Rented company premises in Berlin-Altglienicke are used. The storage area in Rothberg/ Karlshof is used as an unloading area for rubble and construction waste.

BTB acquires commercial and industrial land in the Landsberger Allee, which is now our depot.

Back in 1994 Reimar Breul already realizes just how important it is for a single contractor to provide earthworks, demolition, transport and the recycling of construction materials. In 1994 he establishes the BTB Recyclinghof GmbH (BTB recycling facility Ltd) – the operator of the future construction waste sorting facility.

1995 Preparation and planning of the sorting facility for construction waste.

1996 Authorization received from the German Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG) for establishing a sorting facility for construction waste.

1997 Establishment of the sorting facility for construction waste.

1998 Opening of the sorting facility for construction waste on the industrial premises in the Landsberger Allee, which is approved by the Senate Department for Urban Development and Environmental Protection.

Over the years to come it will become the largest facility for construction waste in Berlin.

TÜV Rheinland/Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. certifies the facility as a waste management facility.

In order to be able to react to the increasing demand for building materials, the BTB group acquires the quarry Knoblauch Kapellenberg to the West of Berlin and takes over the company KSE GmbH.

Major contracts such as the excavation pit for Lenné Dreieck/ Potsdamer Platz or the demolition of the cigarette factory in the Waldstraße enable the company to expand.

2003 BTB takes over the BNO Baustoffe Nord Ost GmbH (BNO Construction Materials North East Ltd).

2004 Establishment of the BTB Erdbau- und Abbruch GmbH (BTB Earthworks and Demolition Ltd.).

Signing of a framework agreement with Deutsche Bahn AG (German Railways).

3. GER approval planning for the processing of concrete and rubble on the Ketzin site.

2009 Construction of a mean-voltage distribution for the premises at the freight yard North East.

2011 Acquisition of the southern premises with loading road and the railway siding 301.

2013 Overhaul and commissioning of the loading station for the railway siding 301.

2010 Commissioning of the new gravel preparation plants. BTB invests 250,000 Euros on emissions control.

2012 Upgrading and modernization of the crushing and screening units to an hourly performance of ca. 400 tons.

2014 Building and commissioning of the facility to store and treat dangerous construction waste.

Our premises are extended by a ca. 70,000m² plot of land to the south of the Landsberger Allee. Rail handling, a balance for trucks, a state-of-the-art construction waste sorting facility and hangar as well as a storage area for natural stone building materials and gravel are all built here. The office containers of the management and logistics also move here.

We receive the authorization from the German Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG) for the new mixed construction waste sorting unit, the concrete mixing unit as well as a company fuel station.

Other modernizations include:

  • Construction of a concrete mixing unit in cooperation with Heidelberger Beton GmbH
  • Construction of a 4,000 m² PV-system
  • Extension of the operating road network (ca. 40,000 m²)
  • Extension of the video surveillance
  • Almost complete modernization of our construction machinery fleet
  • Commissioning of the crushing and dosing unit
  • Extension of our mechanic’s workshop for the maintenance of our construction machinery fleet

PRIVATE TRAINING TRACK FOR ADRENALINE ADDICTS

The Motocross Ranch in Berlin

Directly on the premises of BTB’s recycling facility is one of the most technically demanding MX-tracks in the region – perfectly maintained and with an extremely modern track design.

The Motocross Ranch organizes regular training courses for beginners and intermediates. Pia (the daughter of founder Reimar Breul) is in charge of the entire organization of the race track in addition to her studies.
